The ZHdK Strings is a young and dynamic ensemble with 15 to 18 of the best students from concert and soloists classes of the distinguished Zurich University of the Arts ‘ZHdK’ in Switzerland. Leader, organizer and Professor of violin Rudolf Koelman (former concertmaster of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and one of the last pupils of the famous Jascha Heifetz) founded the Strings in 2005. The ZHdK Strings have already performed at various festivals and concert halls in Switzerland and Italy with renowned soloists such as Shlomo Mintz, Raphael Wallfisch and Duncan McTier.
The ZHdK Strings regularly tour. In February 2012 a tour was made to South Korea and in May 2013 the ensemble travelled to Turkey, upon a special invitation of the Mayor of Diyarbakir. In December 2014 the Strings performed three concerts in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand. From 2008 to 2013 the ZHdK Strings toured every summer Tuscany for a week, to perform and to enjoy the wonderful Italian life.
